You can rent Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie’s childhood home — a massive Scottish castle
THE newly engaged Game of Thrones star grew up in a grand, 15th century Scottish castle — and now her parents have listed it on Airbnb.
FOR a “wildling”, it seems she wasn’t so wild after all.
Rose Leslie, the actor who played Ygritte in Game of Thrones, grew up in a grand 15th-century castle in the Scottish countryside.
And though the 30-year-old actor currently lives in the English countryside with her new fiance — former co-star Kit Harington (aka Jon Snow) — her parents are renting out their posh perch on Airbnb.
The nightly rate starts at $1059, the New York Post reports.
Leslie’s “ancestral seat” is Lickleyhead Castle, a sprawling property with seven bedrooms — some in turrets — located near Auchleven, in north-eastern Scotland, a 20-minute drive from the port city of Aberdeen.
Leslie, who got her big TV break playing a chambermaid on Downton Abbey, clearly has noble origins.
One of the most impressive features of Lickleyhead is a great hall with an original fireplace that dates back to medieval times.
The renters are Leslie’s parents — the grandly named Sebastian Arbuthnot-Leslie, Chieftain of Clan Leslie, and his wife Candida Mary Sibyl Leslie.
In the listing, they describe the property as “quiet and secluded and very private, set in beautiful parkland”.
Airbnb reviewers about the hosting of Mrs Leslie — or Candy, as she is better known — and say the castle “is even better than it looks in the photos”.
Leslie reportedly encouraged her parents to list their magnificent home on the rental site, and once cooked “a lovely chicken dinner” for guests.
The listing adds that the venue is perfect for “family gatherings, reunions and birthday celebrations” — and even small weddings.
Maybe Leslie and Harington will take them up on the offer.
