Grey lady ghost: Couple snaps spook at Dudley Castle

A COUPLE thought they were just taking a photo of a historic castle. But when they looked back at their holidays snaps, they saw this.

A COUPLE looking through their precious holiday snaps got the shock of their lives when they stumbled across what appeared to be a famous ghost.

Dean and Amy Harper from Birmingham were visiting historic Dudley Castle last week when they snapped the eerie footage on their mobile phones. But it wasn’t until they looked backed back at the photos that they realised they may have captured the legendary grey lady — a figure which has thought to have haunted the castle for centuries. The couple were taking photos in the tourist attraction’s courtyard, but hadn’t realised anything was paranormal about the images at the time. But when they looked at the picture, they noticed a blurred figure in grey appearing in the archway below. Mr Harper told the Birmingham Mail they went up to the ruins and began taking pictures of the grounds. “On looking through the images that night, Amy saw a glow, as though a light was on, on the top window level. On zooming in we noticed on the bottom, inside an arch, there was a lady and what appears to be a little girl, too,” he said. “Neither of us are ghost hunters but we do wonder if this could be the Grey Lady ghost — the picture is quite clear.” The castle, built in 1071, is thought to be among the most haunted in England, with the Grey Lady supposedly among its most famous residents. According to legend, the ghost is the spirit of Dorothy Beaumont, who died, along with her baby daughter, soon after giving birth. But her dying wish was to be buried next to her baby and for her husband to attend her funeral. Neither reportedly happened and she now spends eternity wondering around the historic grounds.
