Witch on broomstick spotted in sky, and other amazing sights from the Cloud Appreciation Society

Members of The Cloud Appreciation Society love Australia's weird and wonderful clouds and they're not ashamed to say so. Plus INTERACTIVE.

WITH fertile imaginations and time on their hands, children will often point at passing clouds and yell something like: "look, a witch on a broomstick!" Yes, clouds can look like things.

Pretty much everyone has lay on their backs at some point and let their imaginations run wild. So why do we stop gazing at clouds when we grow up? Well, it turns out you don't have to.

Members of The Cloud Appreciation Society love clouds and they're not ashamed to say so.

Founded in the UK in 2005, the society now has 33,000 members around the world.

Aiming to foster an understanding and appreciation of clouds, the society's manifesto states "clouds are unjustly maligned, and life would be immeasurably poorer without them."

If you are one of those people who thinks life would be poorer without these glorious "patron goddesses of idle fellows", then $10 will buy you a membership and certificate.

Of course Australians are lucky enough to live in one of the most blue-sky countries on Earth. But that hasn't stopped local members of The Cloud Appreciation Society capturing some incredible images, including spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and clouds that look like afros, faces and sea serpents. Check out the best Australian clouds below.
