AUSTRALIA DAY - how we all love the extra day off - spent doing 'Australian things'.

Some people celebrate by having a barbecue, others spend the day relaxing at the beach, while others head to events held all around the country.

There's one event - Australia Day Dunny Races at The Sunshine Coast - that's a little unusual.

Arguably the best way to end the summer holidays and celebrate Australia Day at the same time is by participating in a unique Australian past time - dunny races. The celebration of the old Australian outdoor toilet is held on Australia Day, January 26, at the wonderfully crooked structure that is the Ettamogah Pub located at Aussie World theme park.

If you're not really into racing portaloos you're better off watching, and there's also plenty of other non-dunny related fun to be had with a vintage car display on-site and tug-a-war.

If you do, however, compete you're in with a chance to win, and winning this competition comes with a pretty good prize. Winners get a toilet seat trophy - and the title of Dunny Race Champions of the World.

Mum would be proud!
