THESE are the 10 destinations around the world that have seen the greatest increase in positive traveller feedback and interest this year, according to TripAdvisor.

MARGARET River has come in second place in TripAdvisor's pick of top 10 destinations on the rise in the South Pacific.

It was pipped to the post by Christchurch in New Zealand, and followed by WA's other hot spot, Broome.

The list forms part of TripAdvisor's 2013 Travellers' Choice Awards for Destinations on the Rise, announced yesterday.

The awards look at destinations worldwide that have seen the greatest increase in positive traveller feedback and interest, year-over-year, on the leading travel review website.

Havana in Cuba was the No. 1 ranked destination for the top 10 in the world, followed by La Fortuna de San Carlos in Costa Rica and Kathmandu in Nepal.

The awards also looked at Asia, Europe, South America and the US.

Pip Close, CEO Augusta Margaret River Tourism Organisation, said they're thrilled to receive the award.

"It speaks to the quality of our destination as a future trending hot spot for travellers and will help continue to put us on the map on a global scale," she said.
