A NEW ad campaign to bring mainland Aussies to Tasmania is creating a buzz.

Tourism Tasmania's Save a Mainlander advertising drive - which encourages Tasmanians to invite their interstate friends and relatives to holiday there - is proving a success with the website being viewed more than 15,000 times in its first two weeks.

And while it may not have translated to increased visitor numbers just yet, Tourism Minister Scott Bacon said it was an encouraging start to the two-month campaign.

"We're seeing Tasmanians sharing the promotion with around two mainland friends or relatives, mainly in our important interstate visitor markets of New South Wales and Victoria," he said.

"Given the focus on social media, it's also great to see that around 28 per cent of visits to the website are from mobile devices, with a similar percentage entering via Facebook and mobile Facebook referrals.

"The more mainlanders we all invite, the more chances we have to influence people to come here and enjoy what our state offers."

Tourists Morgane Bachellerie and Nam Vu didn't need the Save a Mainlander campaign to convince them to visit Tasmania, with the chance to visit MONA and see Tasmanian devils more than enough to lure them here for a three-day stay.

To help save your mainland friends and relatives, visit the "Save a Mainlander" website.
