Revealed: The best hotels in Australia and the world

THE top 25 hotels in Australia - and around the world - have been named in the annual Travellers' Choice Awards, based on millions of reviews. Find out which ones triumphed.

The nation's top 25 hotels have been revealed in the annual TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards, which also rated the world's best in a separate category.

Wolgan Valley Resort in the Blue Mountains, NSW, won Top Hotel and Top Luxury Hotel in Australia. It was described as "luxurious but not over-the-top".

But it was Queensland which really shined in the awards, scoring eight out of the top 10 spots.

Peppers Broadbeach in Queensland was named the second-best hotel, praised for its luxury and great location. Next was the Ashmore Palms Holiday Village at the Gold Coast, followed by the Gemini Resort in Caloundra, also in Queensland.

In their 11th year, the awards are based on millions of reviews and opinions of more than 650,000 hotels around the world. They recognise the best properties around the world in the categories of Top Hotel, Luxury, Bargain, Service, Small Hotels, and B&Bs and Inns.

Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy said the awards were great accolades for Australia's accommodation providers because they are based on traveller reviews.
