Incredible photos of military aircraft flying near Brisbane buildings

Photos show a massive RAAF cargo plane swooping over the Brisbane River and close to the city’s skyscrapers as part of an annual festival.

Watch: Huge cargo plane flies insanely close to Brisbane skyscrapers

Massive crowds in Brisbane were wowed when a huge military aircraft flew ridiculously close to the city’s skyscrapers as part of the Brisbane Festival on the weekend.

The C-17A Globemaster cargo plane was part of a military flyover during Sunsuper Riverfire, which wraps up the annual three-week arts festival in the Queensland capital.

Photographs from the flyover show the huge aircraft weaving between two high-rises and over the Brisbane River as crowds watched on in awe.

Days earlier, the Royal Australian Air Force released a 360-degree video of pilots rehearsing the incredible stunt.

The video, filmed in the cockpit and posted to YouTube, shows RAAF pilots cruising over Brisbane and over the river while getting super close to CBD skyscrapers.

RAAF said pilots practised the route multiple times in a simulator, and again in the plane, before the event.

“Each flying display is planned and flown beforehand, and the pilots train to a high skill level to perform such manoeuvres,” an RAAF statement said.

“The aircraft will be at least 100 metres clear of terrain or any buildings during the display. The flying display will provide the public a great opportunity to take photos of the aircraft.”

The C-17A wasn’t the only military aircraft that took place in the flyover — it also included a low-flying F/A-18F Super Hornet demonstration.
