Sydneysiders will have a short time to enjoy a secret swimming spot after it reappeared after years underwater.

Normally a rocky outcrop, the surf has drawn back at Mackenzies Bay to reveal a stunning sandy beach that’s rarely seen.

Those who have frequented the Bondi to Bronte walk would be used to seeing waves crash against the rocks, but now the tide has gone out people are flocking to the beach.

With the beach able to disappear for up to seven years at a time, it could be days before the waters rise again.

However, Sydneysiders are warned against swimming or getting too comfortable on the sand, as it’s not patrolled by lifesavers.

“You should also be mindful that while this is a super beautiful spot and the fact that it’s rarely a beach is quite special, it’s also quite a treacherous surf and swimming spot for the inexperienced,” one concerned Sydneysider alerted beachgoers.

However, due to its elusive nature, dogs are allowed at this beach unlike many others in Sydney’s east.

Sydney’s official Instagram page has also warned beachgoers.

“Beach safety is important. Always follow the rules set by the local council and always swim between red and yellow flags on patrolled beaches,” it wrote.
