‘Get Naked Australia’ Instagram account is booming
FOLKS, it’s time to ditch your clothes and get back to nature. Warning: there are more than a few cheeky snaps.
A POPULAR new Instagram page is celebrating being at one with nature with a series of very saucy snaps.
GetNakedAustralia has racked up more than 57,900 followers by sharing pictures of brave travellers ditching their clothes in front of stunning backdrops.
It didn’t take long for the photos to catch the attention of social media users when it was set up by a health professional called Brendan (who asked to withhold his last name) in June, reports The Sun.
Over the past six months, it’s featured hundreds of naked shots in breathtaking locations.
The 26-year-old, from Sydney, revealed what inspired him to come up with the cheeky idea.
“Whenever I go on a hike and find a swimming hole I’m always keen to strip off and jump in for a skinny dip,” he told the Illawarra Mercury.
“I posted a photo to my own social media of me naked on top of a mountain and people loved it.
“No one thought it was weird, it was well-received and encouraged.
“My friends and I then started to get some cool group shots, including one with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House in the background, and I thought it would be cool to start a page for all our photos.”
The clothes-free social media account celebrates the naked form, without commenting on any of the subject’s appearance.
It focuses on everyday people, and the Instagram user has even turned down models wanting to use the page for publicity.
This is the reason why page owner Brendan believes that the naturist project has been such a success.
Brandon said: “Society has such a problem with the naked body. Nudity is only really seen as acceptable if it’s considered ‘art’.
“Every other form of nudity is deemed sexual when it shouldn’t be. People can be naked and comfortable with it without any sexual nature.
“Through Get Naked Australia we aim to remove that stigma associated with nudity and encourage people to go outside and feel the sun and water on their bare skin.
“People shouldn’t feel ashamed or embarrassed to go skinny dipping or go to a nude beach.”
