With border restrictions starting to ease around the country – now is the time to start planning you next holiday from home. And this sale is the perfect start.

Coronavirus: Why aren't masks mandatory in Australia?

If you’ve been dreaming of a cheap getaway to break up the winter chill, Jetstar have just announced a new Friday Fare Frenzy sale – with some routes going as low as $45.

The budget airline dropped the deals at midday, with thousands of tickets available for an eight-hour window only.

The sale will finish at 8pm AEST on Friday, and features popular destinations along the east coast as well as trips to Uluru and Adelaide for under $100.

Standouts include:

– Sydney to Launceston from just $49

– Newcastle to the Gold Coast from just $45

– Adelaide to Hobart from just $55

– Uluru to Sydney from just $99

– Sydney to Cairns from just $79

The sale comes less than 24 hours after Virgin Australia ran their “Comeback special” which saw the airline fling fares from as little as $69 between Sydney and Byron Bay.

A spokesperson for Virgin said that in the first hour of the sale between 11am and 12pm, more than 37,000 people visited the site to book cheap fares – a record for the airline.

Cheap flights to Uluru are part of the sale.

While some states around the country have kept their borders closed – Queensland will open to New South Wales, Tasmania, South Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory and Western Australia from July 10, 2020 – meaning most of the country can enjoy the Sunshine State this winter.

South Australia have opened their borders to most of the country – however residents in NSW, the ACT and Victoria will need to wait a little longer to travel after the state’s border opening on July 20 was canned.

Victorians will be stuck in their own state for the foreseeable future, after experiencing another day of double digit coronavirus cases. Currently, Victorians are banned from travelling to Queensland, and will be forced into 14 days of self-paid hotel quarantine if they choose to visit.
