Time warp bug causes Twitter chaos
TWITTER users faced their own millennium bug-style crisis today that left users locked out of their accounts, and others’ new posts appeared to be 365 days old.
TWITTER users faced their own millennium bug-style date crisis today when a stuff up with a server date change left many Twitter users locked out of their accounts and others showing their posts as being 365 days old.
Several hours after Twitter users took to Twitter (naturally) to complain about the faults, Twitter acknowledged the problem.
A few days before most of us embrace 2015, the time stamp from the Twitter server showed we were already on Monday 29 December 2015.
What happened with Twitter's mobile app? Everyone is having issues right now, even me. @Support @twittermobile

Explanation for issues: someone set the clocks on the http://t.co/J4sppvC0OQ servers to Dec 29 2015, causing timestamp and auth problems

A consequence of the time warp was that popular apps people use to access Twitter responded in several different, although all undesirable, ways.
Tweetdeck users found the tweets they were making were dated as happening 365 days ago, which is enough to confuse anyone but a Time Lord.
excuse me twitter but i think tweetdeck is still stuck in the past.. 365 days ago wtf

While Twitter’s official Android app dealt with the time dispute by refusing to have anything to do with the matter and shutting down, causing people to be locked out of their accounts.
Twitter acknowledge the problem a short time ago.
We're working on resolving issues some users are having signing in on some platforms. Watch this handle & http://t.co/7BlGvFMC3e for updates
