AUSTRALIAN stargazers have had one of the best seats on Earth to see the International Space Station pass close to Venus and Jupiter.
AUSTRALIANS have had one of the best seats on Earth to see the International Space Station pass close to Venus and Jupiter.
Tonight at 5.31pm AEST, the ISS, which looked like a bright, moving star, emerged in the north-western sky.
The sky cleared in parts of Sydney and greater NSW, where onlookers watched it pass Jupiter first and then pass by Venus at 5.34pm.
The ISS was expected to be visible everywhere from Adelaide to Hobart.
The station took around 10 minutes to cross from one horizon to the other.
Many stargazers on social media posted their sightings of the space station.
The passing of the space station in the night sky comes after stargazers have been able to see Venus and Jupiter passing within a few degrees of each other across the world.
