BACK in April last year, China launched its first satellite with high-resolution camera technology into space. The country’s space agency has finally released its first images from up above and the results are awe-inspiring.

On top of delivering some amazing images, yesterday the China National Space Administration also said that Chinese authorities had used images taken from the new satellite to detect illegal border activity and take down marijuana farmers.

For now though, here’s a look at 10 images of our planet. They’re all in false colour, which adds to the beauty, but for reference; water will show up as blue, dirt will be a shade of grey and vegetation as red.
