A 10 minute lunging workout is guaranteed to get you fitter
IF you are worried about stacking on too much weight during the colder months, there is a quick solution that can be performed from the warmth of your living room.
WINTER is typically the time of year we rug up on the couch and avoid exercising until we need to hit the gym for that summer shred.
But, if you are worried about stacking on too much weight during the colder months, there is a quick solution that can be performed from the warmth of your living room.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist BJ Gaddour said performing alternating body weight lunges for 10 minutes straight was a fantastic way to burn those excess calories.
“It’s a great way to improve your base level of aerobic conditioning,” he told Men’s Health.
“And it also better prepares you for running. In fact, if you can’t lunge for 10 straight minutes, I don’t think you should run for 10 straight minutes.”
Mr Gaddour said slight tweaks to the terrain you perform the exercise on can lead to better results.
“You can really have some fun and do your lunging on an incline or turn around and do it on a decline, and create a whole new challenge,”
Mr Gaddour said the intensity of the workout should be tailored to how you are feeling on the day of your workout.
“If you’re feeling taxed and want to get more of a stability effect to bulletproof your joints, lunge at a slower tempo or do it barefoot on grass or in sand.
“If you’re fired up and you want to take your heart rate through the roof, pick up the speed or even do some lunging up a hill. You’ll quickly find that the sky’s the limit with this protocol.”
