A CATTLE farmer who has found cows mutilated in her fields is not ruling out the deaths could be extraterrestrial related after vets were unable explain the mystery.

Lyn Mitchell, from Missouri, said the deaths of three separate beasts could not be explained by science with the cows suffering strange injuries and dying under mysterious circumstances.

Initially she thought the deaths were the result of a satanic ritual or cruel teenagers, but the extent of the injuries and char mark surrounding the corpses left her at a loss to explain how it came about, TV network KSHB reported.

The bodies were found between December 2011 and July 19 this year. The three cows all had their tongues removed, with the bodies also missing various parts including udders and heart.

Both vets and police were at a loss to explain the deaths or the state of the bodies and Ms Mitchell isn't ruling out it could be extraterrestrial related.

The animals had clean surgical-type wounds and there was no trace of blood, despite major organs being removed.

"The more this happens, the more questions you get," she said.

"Something happened to these cows and it's not something that you see every day."
