World’s first three-piece Harris tweed suit designed for a horse is revealed
IN A world first, racehorse Morestead models a three-piece Harris tweed suit ahead of the Cheltenham Festival, as you do.
HOLD onto your hats ladies and gentlemen; race-day fashion just shot to a whole new level. Veteran racehorse Morestead has made his fashion debut in a three-piece Harris tweed suit, alongside champion jockey Sir Anthony McCoy.
This is the first time a Harris tweed suit has been designed specifically for a racehorse. The look comes complete with a white shirt, tie and matching flat cap.
The stylish duo revealed their look ahead of this year’s Cheltenham Festival. The suit was designed by former Alexander McQueen apprentice, Emma Sandham-King. The project took a month to complete and used 18m of premium Harris tweed. To put that into scale, that’s 10 times more fabric than a human-sized counterpart.
The luxury fabric is hand-produced in the Scottish isles by the islanders of Harris, Lewis, Uist and Barra. Highly regarded at the turn of the century, tweed is expected to make a resurgence — on equines and humans.
It’s time to dust off the tweed jacket; this trend is a sure bet.
