A 69-year-old woman has suffered gruesome injuries after being attacked by a kangaroo on a Queensland golf course.

The woman was playing at Arundel Hills golf course, on the Gold Coast, at 9am on Friday morning when a large kangaroo attacked her from behind.

QAS Operations Supervisor Joel McEwan said the kangaroo had kicked the woman to the ground and stomped on her “a number of times”.

Advanced and critical care paramedics arrived at the scene to find the woman with multiple lacerations to her face, legs and jaw.

She was rushed to Pindara Private hospital with exposed fatty tissue on her face, where she now remains in a stable condition.

Paramedics said the woman was visibly in shock over the attack.

The north Gold Coast suburb is home to large kangaroo mobs, which often interact with players.

The frightening kangaroo attack follows after a violent attack last year that left a woman with spinal injuries and cuts to her arms and legs.

A Fraser Coast woman was rushed to hospital after a kangaroo trampled on her at a foreshore park.
