Tiny kitten rescued after getting stuck inside wall at Bankstown home

A curious kitten was heard meowing from inside a wall cavity at a western Sydney home, prompting firefighters to undertake a delicate rescue operation.

A tiny kitten who found itself in a bit of a pickle when it became trapped inside the wall cavity of a western Sydney home has been rescued.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews were called to a Bankstown home on the weekend after owners heard the kitten meowing, but couldn’t find it.

The curious ginger had feline was eventually found inside the wall of its owner’s home prompting firefighters to carry out a delicate rescue operation using heat mapping to determine its exact location.

Fire crews were called to the home after the tiny kitty got itself into a bit of a pickle.

Fire crews used thermal technology to spot the kitten behind the wall.

The team used a thermal imaging camera to help locate the kitten before cutting through the gyprock, making a hole small enough for their furry friend to move through.

It took a little coaxing to get the kitten to come out, FRNSW said on its Facebook post, which has received dozens of comments from community members thanking crews for their hard work while others offered some cat-related puns.

“Great work avoiding a cat-astrophe. Glad the little kitty is OK,” one person wrote.

They then cut through the gyprock to make a hole small enough for their furry friend to move through.

The kitten is healthy and happy.

Another said: “Good news! How is the kitty now? Is it feline fine?”

Others questioned how the tiny curious kitty managed to get itself stuck.

The animal is happy and healthy, a spokesman said.
