A TIGER dragged a woman to her death after pouncing on her in front of her husband while the couple was out fishing.
The attack happened in the Sunderbans, a vast mangrove forest in the Bay of Bengal which is the habitat of the Bengal tiger, the Mail Online reported.
The man and wife were fishing for crabs in a boat when the tiger emerged from the undergrowth.
The husband reported the attack to forest guards but no trace could be found of his wife afterwards.
The Mail said it was the sixth tiger attack reported in the Sunderbans this year. Environmentalists blame a loss of habitat for the attacks, saying hungry tigers are forced to trek out of their range in search of food.
