Snake found in Carpet Court store’s light escapes into building’s roof after police attempt to rescue it
A SNAKE found lurking in a light encasement at a northern beaches carpet store is on the loose after it slithered away from police. And no joke, it’s possibly a carpet python.
A SNAKE is on the loose after it escaped police while it was about to be arrested.
On Wednesday, workers at Belrose’s Carpet Court store were shocked when they spotted this 1.5m long snake wriggling about the encasing of one of the store’s fluorescent lights.
And no joke, it could be a type of carpet python.
Staff attempted to call several animal rescue organisations, before getting through to police.
While not the typical slimy character police are used to dealing with, two northern beaches police officers did their best to catch the snake before it fled back into the roof of the store.
”The girls (who work at the store) have now tried to develop eyes in the back of their head. They hear every noise now,” staff member Giulia Gurzeni said.
Sydney Wildlife volunteer Georgie Campbell believed the snake was either a diamond python or a type of “intergrade” (cross between a diamond and carpet snake).
Mrs Campbell urged anybody who needed a snake safely removed from their premises to call Sydney Wildlife on Call Sydney Wildlife on 9413 4300.
