Sea lion drags girl into ocean
THERE were some shocking moments shared on social media in 2017, but none flew around the world as quickly as the moment a sea lion grabbed a girl and dragged her into the water.
SITTING on a pier in Canada, a young girl and her family probably expected their day to be pretty uneventful.
But as they watched a sea lion, both the girl and the animal got a little too curious about each other, and the sea lion leapt out of the water, pulling the little girl in.
Luckily a quick-thinking tourist jumped in to rescue her, and both he and the young girl walked away unharmed.
Dramatic footage of the May incident, filmed just south of Vancouver on Canada’s west coast, was quickly shared around the world, with 41 million people watching it on YouTube.
Jukin media have shared it as part of their top viral videos of the 2017, with the moment easily more watched than many news stories, and even some shocking footage such as the moment a boy rescued his twin brother from a fallen drawer (which had 32 million views).
