Raymond the stingray emerges from the water to grab himself a salmon snack

When these Northern Territory anglers caught a salmon they didn’t expect a stingray called Raymond to slide out of the water chasing a snack.

When these Northern Territory anglers caught a salmon they didn’t expect what happened next.

They were fishing in remote Anson Bay on a heli-fishing trip with Darwin-based Helifish when they caught a blue salmon.

A local stingray could smell a free feed and the normally water-dwelling beast wasn’t shy about coming out on to the bank to get hold of its favourite salmon snack.

“Our guide Ben had a salmon that got caught and didn’t survive the release,” said Mark Rolle from Helifish.

“So when our resident friend Raymond showed up he gave him a little treat... amazing creatures.”

The northern Territory is home to a wide variety of marine life, including several species of stingrays.
