A Queensland man has sparked outrage after he filmed himself jumping into dangerous crocodile infested waters.

Fishing influencer Daniel Colombini filmed the wild stunt, where he leapt off a metres-high embankment into the Tully River in far north Queensland.

Queensland’s Department of Environment and Science (DES) urges visitors to the river to not swim due to numerous salt water crocodiles found in the water.

“It’s bloody hot, I tell you that,” Mr Colombini says to the camera.

“Better do a cliff jump off Tully River … the boat’s going to pick us up when we jump off.

“We’ll see what happens, aye?”

He jumps off the embankment into the murky water below, swimming and posing for the camera for a moment before being picked up by a friend in a tinnie.

He captioned the video with “cliff jumps in croc infested waters”, revealing he knew about the dangers.

Authorities describe this kind of behaviour as “frustrating” and “unnecessary”.

The video comes just weeks after a man was attacked by a crocodile in the Bloomfield River, around 500km north.

A tourist filmed himself wading into the water in crocodile territory, before he was captured being attacked and badly injured.

The DES urged Queenslanders to be smarter and safer in crocodile country.

“It is frustrating to see people take unnecessary, life-threatening risks in known crocodile habitat,” a spokesperson told NCA NewsWire.

“DES wildlife officers work hard to equip people with the tools and education they need to be Crocwise.”

The incident was a matter of ego over safety, according to Ren Bone from the BeCrocWise program.

“When people do stuff like this, they’re not only putting their own lives at risk, but they’re putting the lives of others at risk,” Mr Bone said on 7 News.

“So part of being Crocwise is to look after your mates, and unfortunately this young man’s ego has gotten in the way of this.”

The DES said it is easy for people to be Crocwise, by staying at least five metres away from the water’s edge, disposing of food and fish scraps in a bin, and not using kayaks, paddleboards or other small craft in crocodile habitat areas.
