THEY say size doesn’t matter, but this case might be the exception.
A pair of avid hunters have flaunted their virility on Facebook after roping and killing a “monster” alligator with just a “rope, a few hooks and their strength”.
The 4 metre, 346 kilogram beast — aptly named Lumpy — was caught by a pair of fellas from Jacksonville, Florida, where alligators are as common as crocs are in the Northern Territory.
According to the Atlanta Journal, Keith Kelley and Kelly Sziy had been hunting Lumpy for several months, but last week, “he got close enough to where I guess he couldn’t withstand the bait. Finally, it was just his night,” Kelley said.
“Put some leather gloves on and I told Kelly: we’re going to have to get him by hand and that’s all it is to it. Hang on.”
That was the last of Lumpy. Four hours later, the mammoth beast was breaking the scales. Literally.
But what is most outrageous, Lumpy was killed to be used as processed meat.
His head though, will be proudly mounted on Kelley’s wall.
Ah, the might of masculinity.
“I don’t know if there’s another one out there, but we’ll definitely be looking.”
