Melbourne woman’s “best Christmas” after stolen dog returned, alleged thief charged
A Melbourne woman received her “best Christmas present ever” after her allegedly stolen dog was returned by police on Sunday morning.
A Melbourne woman has celebrated her “best” Christmas ever after police located and returned her therapy dog which was allegedly stolen the day before.
She received a knock at her front door shortly after 2am on Sunday morning to find two officers, Sergeant T. Fletcher and Constable A. Tran, outside with beloved pet Kyron.
Kyron, a Fox Terrier, had disappeared from outside a Mt Alexander Rd supermarket in Melbourne’s north about 8.45pm on Christmas Eve after the woman stopped to pick up supplies.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers received a tip-off about the missing dog early on Christmas morning, allegedly locating Kyron inside an Essendon home.
“The alleged Grinch, a 26-year-old Essendon woman, was arrested and charged with theft,” she said.
Returning Kyron to his owner a short time later, the spokeswoman said the woman told officers it was the “best Christmas present she had ever received”.
