An Aldi shopper has captured the stomach-churning moment a gigantic rat climbed a shelf in the supermarket, while oblivious customers continued to shop nearby.
The video, shared to TikTok by a user named Caity, has amassed over two million views, and shows the enormous rodent climbing the metal railing of a shelf packed with bottled water and soft drink.
“Latest special at Aldi,” the woman captured the clip, jokingly playing the Mission Impossible theme tune over the footage of the rat’s movement.

Caity told the Daily Mail an Aldi employee had attempted to catch the rat after she alerted them to it, but left the store shortly after so wasn’t sure if they had been successful.
Amused TikTok users reacted to the viral clip with lockdown-themed jokes, declaring the rat was “just panic buying, leave him alone”.
“Is he trying to find toilet paper?” another quipped.
