Man steps on deadly snake in his living room after returning home from holiday
The man returned from a trip to New Zealand only to get the “shock of his life” when he made a grim discovery in his own living room.
A man who had just returned home from holiday received the shock of his life when he accidentally stepped on an eastern brown snake in his living from.
Folco Faber, who is Kiwi, returned to his home in Adelaide after visiting family in New Zealand when he made the alarming discovery.
Mr Faber initially didn’t spot the unwelcome intruder and greeted his cat Lily by picking her up and holding her in his arms.
Incredible security camera footage shows Mr Faber walking through the living room, with his left foot striking the snake’s head.
Luckily the reptile darts in the opposite direction.
Mr Faber continues to cradle his cat and move around the room, with the snake slithering underneath the coffee table.
Eventually Mr Faber glances down and jumps after spotting the snake.
The Kiwi had just spent two weeks visiting family in Waiuku and received the “shock of his life” when he saw the reptile,The New Zealand Heraldreports.
He added that he called a snake catcher to get rid of the animal, and spent the rest of the day feeling “unsettled.”
The snake’s subdued reaction to being stepped on by Mr Faber could be due to the fact it had been bitten by his cat, according to the snake catcher.
Mr Faber told the NZ Herald that Lily was lucky to have survived.
Eastern brown snakes are the second most deadly snakes in the world and it is not uncommon to see them slinking around during summertime in some parts of Australia.
If you encounter one, the best advice is to keep some distance from the snake, and never try to capture it, according to Royal Life Saving WA. While they’re rare, most snake bites occur when people try to capture them or kill them, as the snake becomes defensive and aggressive.
Otherwise, snakes generally present little to no danger if left alone and will generally avoid people.
If a snake is found on your property or elsewhere, call a licensed snake catcher, and in the situation that someone is bitten, call triple-0 immediately.
