‘Lion Whisperer’ Kevin Richardson straps a GoPro camera to the back of a hunting lion
STRAPPING a GoPro camera to the back of a hunting lion may be the closest we will ever get to feeling what it’s like to be the king of the jungle.
SOUTH AFRICA’s “lion whisperer” Kevin Richardson has given the world a sense of how it feels to be the king of the jungle.

Strapping a GoPro camera to the back of one of his lion companions, Meg, the footage shows how the African super-predators are superbly adapted to their environment, blending in to the background and keeping low to avoid detection.
The footage shows two lionesses, sisters Meg and Amy, hunting their prey, a small waterbuck.
Meg eventually pounces on the defenceless antelope.
“Meg is really boisterous; she’s really game for anything,” Richardson says in the video, which has been viewed over one million times since he posted it on October 27.
“Lions are what’s known as an apex predator, the top of the food chain ... very strong, very agile,” he says.
Richardson has worked with a total of 27 lions since they were cubs and says he is guided by his intuition when interacting with them.
His previous videos have featured him swimming and cuddling with full-grown lions, and even playing a game of football with them.
The 39-year-old animal behaviourist (he started a degree in zoology but did not finish) admits he has been clawed and bitten by overly frisky and aggressive animals on a number of occasions.
