The photos were taken by Dave Black, who shared them with the Snake Catchers Adelaide Facebook page.

“The snake ended up dead on the ground and the kook flew off in a bad way,” Mr Black responded to a commenter asking what happened after the photos were taken.

“I think it may have been biting during their battle as it was spitting up stuff out of it’s mouth before it flew off,” Mr Black said of the surviving kookaburra.

Kookaburras are known to eat snakes and other reptiles.

“Snakes are hit against trees and rocks to kill, soften or break into smaller pieces before they swallow it,” the Australian Reptile Park said on its website.
