A Woolworths customer got more than they bargained for while shopping for eggs, prompting a “yea no thanks” remark.

A woman shopping at a Melbourne Woolworths store has left without her eggs after filming a tiny mouse running around the cartons.

The video shared to TikTok and captioned “yea, no thanks” showed the little critter running through the refrigerated shelves at the QV store on Swanston St.

It stops and sits on a carton, prompting the woman to put her eggs back and go without for the day.

She expressed her frustration in the clip.

“And now, I want to sit back and relax and enjoy my evening,” the voice says.

“When all of a sudden, I hear this agitating, grating voice.”

The video has more than 180,000 views, with some people leaping to the supermarket’s defence.

“Hate to burst your bubble, but this happens in all supermarkets,” one user wrote.

“It’s not like you eat the shell is it?” commented another.

“It’s just a lil mouse, it’s not Godzilla. Get over it.”

Other people were very amused, questioning the mouse’s motives for his food selections and comparing him to the main character of Disney’s Ratatouille.

“He just wants to make Linguini some omelettes for brekkie,” one comment read.

“Remy got a whole restaurant to feed, leave him alone,” said another.

“Where’s his uniform thought?” a user asked.
“Free pet,” another joked.

Some people were disgusted, saying they wouldn’t be purchasing their eggs from that store anymore.

“Yeah, we’re just gonna put that right back thank you very much,” one said.

“Throwing away the free range eggs I bought for $7 on Saturday,” said another.

When questioned about the incident, a Woolworths spokesman said staff worked hard to maintain cleanliness in stores.

“Our store team work hard every day to maintain our high standards for cleanliness and work closely with pest control services to manage the rodent population that can be found throughout the inner city,” he said.

“If customers ever have any concerns about the cleanliness in store we encourage them to bring it to the attention of our friendly team who will action it straight away.”
