‘It’s cruel’: Shopper confronted for allegedly leaving dog in car on hot day
Footage has captured the fiery moment a woman confronted a shopper for allegedly leaving her dog locked in her car for 20 minutes on a 36 degree day.
A woman has filmed the moment she clashed with a shopper in a fiery car park exchange after she allegedly left her dog locked in her car on a 36-degree day.
The footage, shared on social media, shows the woman confronting the shopper as she returned to her car with a trolley in an Aldi car park on Phillip Island, Victoria, last week.
The woman claimed the shopper’s dog had been left in her white Kia for over 20 minutes while she was inside.
“It’s not fine,” the woman told the shopper in the TikTok video, which has amassed over 460,000 views.
“It is, I love my dog,” the shopper replied.
“You love your dog but you’ve left it in the heat, in a car. Do you know how hot it is? It’s 36C!” the woman said.
She then informed the pet owner she had reported the incident to police as the dog leapt out of the car wagging his tail.
“He’s gorgeous,” the pet owner said.
“Yeah, he’s gorgeous, and you’ve left him in the car,” the woman replied, explaining that she had taken a photo of the dog in the vehicle.
“It’s cruel and my daughter’s a vet,” she continued. “You don’t do that to dogs. You’ve been reported.”
Defending her decision, the shopper said her dog just had a bath and was still wet. She also claimed she left “ice cold water” for him in the car.
Earlier footage shared on TikTok shows the dog lying on the front seat of the car with a mug of water next to him as multiple windows were partially down.
“You don’t do that to a dog,” the woman said.
In a separate clip, a third person was seen parking behind the shopper’s car in a failed attempt to block her in.
The video was met with a mixed reaction online, with some labelling the woman a “Karen”.
“The windows are all down for goodness sake,” one person wrote.
“(You) just found something to do for the day, you are being a Karen,” said another.
“Windows are down and also water in the cup no problem but if the windows were up then there is a problem,” another wrote.
Others applauded the woman for stepping in and confronting the woman.
“Well done this makes me wild,” one person wrote.
“Thank you for speaking up!!” said another.
“36 degrees and imagine how hot it would be on the inside of the car,” another wrote.
“Well done … you legend,” said another.
