Cyclist Isaac Grillis filmed as he was brutally attacked by an aggressive magpie from behind while riding down a path.

Terrifying magpie attack captured by male cyclist

A male cyclist has filmed himself in hysterics trying to escape the wrath of an overly aggressive magpie.

The video, shared to TikTok, featured Isaac Grillis as he rode down a footpath in Wollongong, south of Sydney, with an angry bird attacking him from behind.

After pulling out his camera to film his face, he was stopped mid-sentence by a swooping magpie and was so spooked he let out a high-pitched scream.

“I’m getting swooped,” he told viewers before smiling for the video.

His reprieve was swiftly interrupted when the bird came back for more, this time swooping with such force that it caused him to lose his grip on his phone.

“Holy f***, holy s*** c***, it f***ing touched me, it f***ing touched me,” he said.

“Oh s***, f***,” he yelled, before once again screaming at the top of his lungs.

Mr Grillis appeared to then pick up the pace, and bobbed his head down closer to his handlebars.

While a traumatic experience for any Australian in spring time, there were thousands who couldn’t help but laugh at Mr Grillis’ unfortunate predicament.

“It’s so funny to watch other people, but not when it’s happening to me,” one person wrote in a comment.

“You literally sound like a magpie when you scream,” someone else observed.

“That scream’s legendary,” another said.

Many others agreed that getting attacked by a magpie was terrifying.

“No matter how tough you are, this is true fear,” someone wrote.

“Genuinely the scariest thing ever,” another said.

Griffith University magpie expert Darryl Jones recently revealed how Australians could protect themselves from magpie attacks.

“The only way to (win over) a magpie is for it to see you regularly,” he told NCA NewsWire.

“The standard method is to feed them a bit and they do respond really quickly to food; I have examples I have seen where people were swooped out the front of their house, but after the magpie began to see them regularly, and they offered food, it made an instant difference.”
