Hope, a female rhino who survived a horrific attack by poachers who savagely hacked off her horns is still standing despite grievous injuries to her face.

An exclusive photo of Hope by photographer Adrian Steirn, shows the rhino standing strong, with bandages covering the majority of her face where poachers hacked off her horn in the attack in Lombardi Nature Reserve.

The attack took place early May and she is currently being cared for by Saving the Survivors — an organisation which works to save rhinos that have been victims of poaching attacks.

According to the organisation she was named Hope to symbolise what she means to so many people. You can also keep up to date with her progress on the organisation’s Facebook page.

Hope underwent major surgery following the attack and was fit with a plate covering her wound.

Mr Steirn has urged everyone to share this photo of Hope to help shed light on the horror of poaching and the need to make a change.

“Please share her story. Be the generation who saved a species,” he wrote on a social media post.
