Hero police dog’s amazing rescue
A POLICE dog has been hailed as a hero for rescuing his partner who was allegedly being dragged into a forest by three murderous gangsters.
A POLICE officer allegedly ambushed and dragged into a forest by three attackers was rescued — by his hero dog.
Hancock County Sheriff’s Department deputy Todd Frazier pulled over to check on a parked car after noticing the driver sitting alone with the lights off in the US state of Mississippi on Monday night.
As Frazier got out of his car, two men approached and, along with the driver, dragged him to a wooded area in Pearlington, along the Louisiana state line.
Chief Deputy Don Bass said authorities believe the three attackers planned to kill Frazier and dump his body.
“They told him they were going to slit his throat, and they were dragging him toward the woods,” he told The Clarion-Ledger.
But quick-thinking Frazier used a free hand to press a button on his key chain which unlocked the back doors of his squad car, releasing K-9 partner Lucas.
The fierce Belgian Malinois launched at Frazier’s alleged attackers, possibly biting two of the men and saving his partner’s life.
The alleged offenders fled, possibly crossing into Louisiana. The suspects remain at large.
“We don’t know how many he (Lucas) got, we just know he had blood all over him,” Sheriff Ricky Adam said.
Adam added that Frazier was beaten and slashed with a box cutter, suffering a large cut to his forehead and multiple bodily injuries. Lucas was not injured.
Police believe the suspects were gang members.
