THIS is the moment a great white shark ate a $12,000 GoPro camera rig, ripping it away from an Emmy award-winning wildlife cameraman with its powerful jaws.
The shark was being filmed by Andy Brandy Casagrande off the coast of New Zealand where he was filming for the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week.
The camera rig belonged to Michael Kitner, founder and CEO of 360Heros, and has six different cameras inside it to cover all angles.
When Casagrande was using it to film underwater from inside his protective shark cage, the shark suddenly appeared and was caught on film as it opened its massive jaws and ripped the camera from its mounting.

Moments later, the shark let go of the remains of the camera which floated to the bottom of the ocean.
Casagrande had to deliver the bad news to Kitner, in a message, which was posted on his website. It stated: “Mike — I unfortunately have very bad news — a picture says a thousand words — see attached — I can’t believe it — but the worst possible scenario happened yesterday — I only now built up the courage to tell you.
“While shooting with the 360 rig — after shooting awesome topside & behind the scenes 360 — I took the rig underwater & after an hour of getting awesome footage — I pushed the envelope too far & an aggressive white shark bit & literally ate the 360 — completely — all 6 cameras in one bite.”
Casagrande said later: “I watched as the first Great White Shark engulfed the rig — it realised it wasn’t a natural prey item and decide to regurgitate it.
“However, directly after the first shark spit it out a second shark rushed up and engulfed before spitting it out.
‘It was almost like they were playing football with it!”
360Heros are now offering a $5,000 reward for anyone who can find the camera rig.
