Woman finds unusual way to stop her dog barking

A dog owner has been left dumbfounded after receiving a letter from a neighbour that appeared to threaten their pet.

The letter, which was placed in the individual‘s mailbox, complained about the dog’s alleged barking in the middle of the night.

The note read: “Your dog is a f**ing joke. We have had to listen to this piece of s*** bark all night. It is now 2am and it’s still barking. We will be emailing council. By the way it would be terrible if it got sick.”

The dog owner, who lives on the Gold Coast, said their pet was not the one responsible for the barking.

“This is not our dog barking at 2am,” they said.

“There is one behind us that barks non stop. And would appreciate if they would not threaten our dog getting poisoned.”

The letter has caused outrage among the local community, with many expressing anger towards the writer after it was shared on social media.

One person commented: “This is absolutely disgusting. I had similar letters when I rented in Helensvale. My dog was a bit traumatised by the move and on day one I had a letter from an anonymous neighbour.”

Many have suggested that a face-to-face conversation would be a far more effective way to address concerns about barking dogs. “This is awful,” one person wrote. ”A simple conversation with the person first would make all the difference.”

The local council advises residents with concerns about barking dogs to speak directly with the dog owner in the first instance.

If the problem persists, residents can report the issue to the council, who will then contact the owner and give them two weeks to resolve the matter.

If the noise nuisance persists, fines may be issued.

“If the dog owner does not stop the noise nuisance, we may issue up to two fines,” the council said in a statement provided to the Gold Coast Bulletin.
