Friends have rallied around the “remarkable” man killed by dogs while he was simply doing his job as a meter reader in Queensland's southeast.

Kane Minion, 42, was identified as the Energex metre reader who was killed when two dogs attacked him at a home on Ison Rd at Greenbank, Queensland on December 3.

Emergency services were called to the property after Mr Minion was found unconscious in the front yard with critical injuries at about 10.45am.

Mr Minion was trying to read an electrical metre at the property when he was attacked by a Bandog Bullmastiff cross and a Rhodesian ridgeback cross.

Mr Minion, who had spent seven years working for Downer’s Skilltech and was working as a contractor for Energex at the time, died at the scene as a result of his injuries, despite the best efforts of paramedics.

Following his tragic death, Mr Minion’s friends have banded together to raise money for his family.

GoFundMe page organiser and friend of Mr Minion, Krystal Haskett, launched the fundraiser on Thursday to help raise money to support Mr Minion’s fiancee, Toni.

Ms Haskett said her friend would be missed by all who loved him.

“Kane worked hard, always,” she wrote.

“He loved animals and creatures of all kinds.

“Most of all, Kane loved his friends, his family and his fiancee, Toni.

“Eagerly planning their upcoming wedding, after already having spent a decade of life in love together. Now tragically, Kane is gone.

“We are broken.”

Ms Haskett said it was with “the heaviest of hearts” she hoped people would donate what they could to “help in anyway” with the costs.

“We know that times are tough for all (at the moment) and so it is with our utmost respect that we ask you to please help us to try to ease this outrageously heavy burden and show your love and support for Toni’s and Kane’s families,” she wrote.

“Together, we can help them get through this tremendously hard time.”

The dogs have since been humanely euthanised by Logan City Council’s animal care division.

“Council strongly promotes responsible pet ownership and has zero-tolerance for dogs that act in, or might be kept in, a way that could compromise community safety,” council’s statement read on Thursday.
