Eton free range egg producer Freckle Farm find rare double shelled egg | VIDEO
The egg was put aside after it was obviously too large to fit inside a carton, but as strange as what was inside is — it’s not the first time.
A North Queensland egg farmer has made a surprise discovery after finding an unusually large egg.
Deb McLucas runs free-range Freckle Farm with her husband Rob Bauman at Eton, south west of Mackay and while grading eggs found the abnormally sized shell.
A video posted to the farm’s Facebook page on Friday shows what happens when the egg is cracked open.

Another entire egg was contained inside.
Freckle Farm said it was only the second time it had happened at the farm in six years of commercial egg production.

The farm recently received more than 1000 young hens to help meet demand for locally grown eggs amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Ms McLucas told ABC Rural one of those new hens was probably responsible.
“Without getting scientific about it, she is still practising and didn‘t get that one right,” she said.
Ms McLucas added younger hens are usually responsible for the rare double yolk eggs you might have come across before “because their hormonal systems are not quite in sync”.
“They‘re still getting the hang of producing the egg and knowing exactly when to put that shell around,” Ms McLucas explained.
The staff at Freckle Farm grade around 10,000 eggs a week, so you can imagine how rare an event this is if this is only the second they’ve found in six years.
You won’t find one at your local shops though, and not just because of the rarity at which they occur.
The double-egg discovered at Freckle Farm was too big to fit inside of an egg carton.
In May, a Gold Coast mum Corrine Finch was shocked to find six double yolk eggs from the same carton.
It started on a Tuesday morning when she cracked two double yolkers, documenting the find on Instagram. Then on Wednesday she couldn’t believe it when she discovered a further two.
