Dangerous find in Raymond Terrace police raid

POLICE came across an unusual item alongside the drugs, cash and weapons they seized while executing a search warrant in a NSW town.

POLICE have seized an “unlicensed python” along with a cash, drugs, weapons and mobile phones from a New South Wales home.

Officers from the Port Stephens/Hunter District made the dangerous find about 4.30am on Wednesday when they executed a search warrant at a Raymond Terrace home.

In NSW it is illegal to keep exotic or non-native reptiles, and anyone who keeps a native reptile as a pet is required to have a licence to do so.

Police will allege they found and seized 17 mobile phones, a sum of cash, a replica firearm, an extendible baton and a number of substances along with the snake.

Drugs seized included a small amount of white powder believed to be methylamphetamine and a small amount of cannabis leaf and seeds.
