A busker has been arrested following a horrific confrontation after a guitar was allegedly smashed over his head, leading him to allegedly puncture tyres and set his dogs on his assailant in an act of revenge.

The chaotic showdown took place outside an IGA supermarket in Nollamara, in Perth, about 6.45pm on Sunday.

Mirrabooka District Police allege a 53-year-old man was busking outside the IGA when a 61-year-old man walked past with a small dog.

Police say the busker had two large dogs with him, one of which broke free and attacked the grandfather.

The man was bitten on the hand and arm when he tried to save his dog, named Eddie, according to police.

They say a fight broke out between the passer-by and the busker. The man allegedly grabbed the busker’s guitar and hit him over the head with it.

The guitar was destroyed.

In the hours following, police allege the busker went to the man’s home armed with a knife and punctured the tyres of his car.

Police allege the pair broke out into a fight before the busker set his two dogs on the man.

The man was attacked so ferociously by the dogs that he suffered a bite wound to his arm that was so deep it reached the bone.

He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment for injuries to his arms, head and back.

The busker was arrested outside the shopping centre on Tuesday morning, while his dogs have been seized by rangers from the City of Sterling.

No charges have been laid.
