THIS is the shocking photo of an 11-year-old boy who has just killed a rare albino deer.

Gavin Dingman from Oceola Township, in Michigan, was pictured posing with the dead buck and the crossbow he used to shoot it dead from 30 metres.

“He kind of feels like a rock star right now,” his father Mick told local paper the Livingston Daily. “Everyone is calling, all of the hunting shows and hunting magazines.”

The picture has gained 3404 likes and almost 700 shares on Facebook after it was posted by Mike Avery’s Outdoor Magazine.

Commenters on the hunting magazine’s post said it was a “nice trophy” and congratulated the schoolboy on his kill, adding “keep at it!”

But others said that killing such a rare and beautiful animal was “morally wrong” and that local media’s glorification of the act “made them sick”.

Hunting albino deer is illegal in most of the world, but was legalised Michigan in 2008 because of accidental shootings.

The Dingmans said they had seen the deer several times over the past year and taken pictures of it.

“Quite a few of the guys in the neighbourhood were trying to get it,” said Mick.

He let Gavin, who had previously killed a deer last year, take the shot when they were out hunting together.

The family are now having a taxidermist make a full body mount of the creature.

Gavin said his schoolmates thought it was “so cool”.
