Bo Bridges uses drone to capture paddleboarder gliding over great white shark

IT was a close call — almost too close. A drone has filmed the incredible moment a paddleboarder glided over a great white without even realising.

IT was a close call — almost too close. A drone has filmed the incredible moment a paddleboarder glided over a great white without even realising.

The unexpected shark was captured on film by a drone being used by famous professional sports and lifestyle photographer Bo Bridges.

Known for his images of sea, surf, and landscapes but also celebrities and athletes, the footage shows his friend Wayne paddleboarding in the ocean near a great white shark lying beneath the surface.

Bridges posted the photo of the moment before his friend Wayne paddled straight over the shark, unaware of its existence.

“Ignorance is bliss” he said on this Instagram post.

“In this shot, a friend of mine, Wayne is looking at my #drone and catching a wave into the sunrise. He didn’t realise the juvenile #greatwhiteshark was beneath him. They cross paths... #bobridges”

As Wayne’s board went over the top of the shark, it did not move.

Rather than attack, the shark is seen swimming off in to the distance.

Bridges has worked with celebrities including Paul Walker and Gerald Butler. His photographic assignments have taken him to over 35 countries and his work has been published in magazines such as Sports Illustrated, ESPN and Rolling Stone.
