Young girl, 3, mauled by family dog months after moving to live with grandmother

Four dogs were seized from the property where paramedics discovered a young girl with significant injuries to the head and neck.

A toddler has suffered serious injuries to her head and neck after being attacked by a dog at her grandmother’s home.

The girl, three, was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital on Wednesday afternoon in a serious condition after being mauled by a dog at a home in Yatala, on the northern Gold Coast.

Authorities have confirmed she now remains in a stable but serious condition in hospital.

Four dogs were seized from the property after the attack including three German Shepherds and a French Bull Mastiff.

It is understood the three-year-old moved to the home three months ago to live with her grandmother, the Courier Mail reports.

A neighbour said the family had brought the third German Shepherd into the household when they moved in.

It is the fifth dog attack in southeast Queensland over the last week.

On Monday, a six-year-old girl was pulled off a fence by a dog before it viciously attacked her near Brisbane in a horrific end to the Easter long weekend.

The dog dragged her into a yard at around 4.30pm where she was mauled by both the neighbour’s mastiffs.

She suffered horrific chest, abdominal and shoulder injuries but remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Laquarna’s uncle, Reece Chapman, heard the screams and rushed to her aid.

Meanwhile, paramedics were called to two seperate address on Wednesday night to reports of more dog attacks.

A woman in her 30s was taken to Townsville Hospital in a stable condition with a injuries to her leg after a dog bite incident at a private address in Kelso at 7.50pm on Wednesday.

A pre-teen boy was take to Logan Hospital in a stable condition with a head injury after a dog bite incident at a private address in Shailer Park at 8.40pm on Wednesday.
