An “alien-like” creature that appears to have lips has washed up on Bondi Beach.
The strange-looking beast was spotted by Drew Lambert while he was out for a run along the shore on Tuesday morning.
“It looked like it was puckering up for a kiss,” he told Yahoo News.
“I just looked at it and said ‘What the hell? Does this fish have human lips on it?’”
Mr Lambert initially thought it might be some sort of bloated shark, but an expert disagreed.
Laetitia Hannan from Sea Life Sydney Aquarium said the creature was a coffin ray, otherwise known as the Australian numbfish.
They are found on Australia’s east and west coasts and are usually found close to shore, like other rays.
