MEET Olivia, the rare baby pygmy hippo who’s been nicknamed “Michelin Man” because of her adorable rolls of puppy fat.

Born last month at Parken Zoo in Sweden, Olivia is part of an international breeding program that finds mating partners for these solitary creatures.

She weighed just six kilograms when she was born to mother Krakunia and father Anton at the zoo in Eskilstuna, according to local paper Aftonbladet.

“She is the cutest little fatty you can imagine,” said Parken zoologist Jennie West Anderson.

The miniature hippo will only ever grow to, at best, one-fifth of the size of a regular adult hippopotamus — but she will get a huge set of teeth.

Olivia will spend the next two years with her mother before being moved to another zoo in Europe.

Pygmy hippos are naturally solitary, forest-dwelling animals native to west Africa. Efforts to breed them before they are ready can turn violent.

When mating is successful, gestation time is around 185 days.

The World Conservation Union estimates that there are fewer than 3000 pygmy hippos remaining in the wild.

Another female pygmy hippo calf, Kambiri, was born to mother Petre at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo in July 2010.

Melbourne Zoo are now trying to breed Petre, 29, with seven-year-old Felix.

The zoo’s most recent pygmy hippo was born in 1981.
