A dog really did eat my homework

IT'S the oldest line in the book - the dog ate my homework - but in this case it was true. The culinary adventure just didn't end very well for Reggie the labrador.

A FAMILY dog in the US required emergency surgery after eating a girl's school project.

Reggie the labrador just coudn't resist when he spotted his owner's science homework, a chocolate volcano, an online Arbroath blog reports.

The labrador, from Colorado, went on to eat the whole project, including the fifty pins that were holding it together.

"It was Mt Haleakala in Maui," Reggie's owner Payton said.

But Reggie's thirst for knowledge ended up on an operating table after an abdominal X-ray showed the pins.

The good news is that Reggie has fully recovered from his emergency surgery and Payton received an A for her project, after she rebuilt the volcano (minus the pins just to be safe).

Payton said she provided the X-rays to her teacher to prove she wasn't lying.
