Woolworths investigating cause of website crash that left shoppers furious
Furious shoppers have taken to social media to complain after the Woolworths website crashed for hours, delaying orders and deliveries.
Woolworths shoppers have been left fuming after the supermarket’s website crashed for hours.
The company confirmed the “systems went down” about 7.30am on Monday.
All morning orders were able to be dispatched but customers could not place new online orders.
“We’re currently experiencing technical issues impacting our website and mobile apps,” a Woolworths spokesperson said in a statement.
“Our team is working hard to get our systems back up and running as quickly as possible, so we can resume our normal service to online customers.
“We know our online services are playing a key role supporting many customers across the country right now and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.”

Shoppers took to social media to complain about the problem.
“If my basket is empty again when I log back in I’m going to be so p****d off,” one person wrote.
Another shopper wrote: “Trying to complete online shop since 6.45 today.”
After some time, another shopper said the website was back up and running but they lost the items in their cart.
“Looks like it’s back up but … all 67 items gone from my cart,” they said.

A Woolworths spokesperson confirmed the website and apps were “back up and running” about 10.30am.
“We’re very sorry for the inconvenience the outage caused our customers this morning and thank them for their patience as we worked to resolve it as quickly as possible,” they said.
Some afternoon and evening deliveries may be delayed due to the incident, which Woolworths is still investigating.
