You can now ‘mute’ people on Twitter
HAD enough of smug holiday selfies and infuriating people who post TV spoilers on Twitter? Well, now you can ‘mute’ irritating users.
WE’VE all had to endure those smug holiday selfies and infuriating people who post TV spoilers on Twitter but now the social media site is introducing a new feature to ‘mute’ irritating users.
The feature which is being rolled out on Twitter’s mobile app and desktop sites allows you to silence anyone you follow so their incessant Tweets don’t appear in your feed until you decide to unmute them.
“Muting a user on Twitter means their tweets and retweets will no longer be visible in your home timeline, and you will no longer receive push or SMS notifications from that user,” Twitter explains.
Muting is already available in Tweetdeck and other third party applications but has been longed for on its native app.
There’s already a block feature for Twitter that cuts communication with others on a permanent basis, but this is a bit more tactful as it lets you secretly and temporarily silence them.
The rollout of this feature may be less than 24-hours old, but it is already providing relief in the stealthiest of ways.
