A WOMAN has been jailed for setting up a fake Facebook profile of her ex-boyfriend to send violent threats to herself.

Stephani Lawson, from Las Vegas, Nevada, was sentenced to a year in prison for trying to frame former partner Tyler Parkervest for stalking, CBS Local reported.

Lawson filed eight police reports alleging Mr Parkervest made threats over social media that he was going to kill her and her daughter and that he held her in his car at knifepoint.

Mr Parkervest, from Irvine, California, was arrested four times and charged with stalking, kidnapping, battery and making threats.

The charges were dropped last month after the Orange County District Attorney’s Office decided to investigate Lawson’s statements on the witness stand and traced the Facebook account to her devices and internet service provider address, according to local TV station KTLA.

Lawson was arrested and charged in September. Prosecutors said she had lied about the attack and sent the threats to herself after the couple broke up last year.

She was sentenced on Wednesday after pleading guilty to perjury and false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud or deceit.
